I like using chicken for meals, because I feel like I am eating healthier with chicken. However, chicken can often taste bland and flavorless. What makes for a banging barbeque chicken pizza? When it comes to banging up the flavor on chicken several factors can help. One factor is using a seasoning mix on the chicken prior to baking it in the oven. The seasoning bakes into the and amps up the flavor. I have used a barbeque combination seasoning in the past, that provided a smokey flavor to the chicken. Most recently I was at a general store and found some special shi* The Best BBQ Rubsand Seasonings | Special Shit Seasonings that I have used in the past.

Since I don’t like the name of the seasoning, I will be referring to it as SS. My husband turned me on to SS many years ago. He used to use it to flavor his naked chicken tenders. SS is not a designated barbeque seasoning. However, SS contains several ingredients often found in barbeque rubs and seasonings. One of those ingredients is paprika. Paprika gives the chicken a sweet and smokey flavor often found in many barbeque and taco seasoning mixes. SS also contains chili powder that provides a warm, earthy sweetness found in barbeque seasonings to the chicken. I use both paprika and chili powder in my barbeque rub.

Additional ingredients found in SS that are also found in barbeque seasonings are garlic and onion.  Garlic and onion both belong to the alum family.  They complement each other in many recipes to provide additional depth and complexity to seasoning blends.  Together, garlic and onion add an extra layer of umami to many dishes and seasonings.  SS also has a meat tenderizer that helps prevent chicken from becoming tough while it cooks.  Since SS contains salt and pepper there is no need to add extra salt and pepper to the chicken.

Crispy bacon is another ingredient added to the pizza top for extra bang.  Great barbeque should be smoky and juicy.  Bacon adds smokey salty flavors to the pizza.  The crispy juiciness ofBanging Barbeque chicken pizza bacon gives that satisfying full mouth feel found in barbeque.

Red onions are sprinkled on the top of the pizza prior to baking.  Red onions provide that sharp and sweet kick to the banging barbeque chicken pizza.  Baking them in the oven enhances the red onions natural sweetness.
