BBQ Hamburger and Bacon Pizza

BBQ Hamburger and Bacon Pizza

Pizza Friday has me constantly searching for new and creative ideas. I am not crazy about some of the fads that are out there so looked to create something that was a twist on something I had done before. Many a time I have made barbeque chicken pizza. While I really enjoyed it, I was looking for a new twist on barbeque pizza for pizza Friday. Why not make a version of barbeque hamburger and place it on a pizza. This recipe I have developed uses ground beef and bacon with a combination of cheeses to enhance the flavor of the pizza. The white cheddar adds a nice tangy flavor to the pizza. The layering of the pizza also makes a huge difference with the mozzarella below the ingredients and the white cheddar sprinkled on top. I think you will find it tasty.

Pizza Crust: I used my own food processor pizza crust recipe. My recipe uses a combination of wheat and 00 flour. I developed this recipe to try to recreate the pizzas I had tasted in Italy. This recipe makes for a tender and silky pizza crust. You can also use a premade crust or your own favorite recipe.

Cheese: In developing this recipe, I think the cheese is the key. I used a mozzarella layered under the beef mixture that provided a mild and milky flavor that tones down the spiciness of the barbeque sauce. The white cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture adds a sharp and tangy flavor.
